After you manage to shoot through the chopper windshield to hit Master-D, you are treated to a nice, little gory treat as shown here.

Then you have 60 seconds to get out of the base. You have to fight one last robo-guard determined not to let you escape, but it shouldn't be much of a problem to get out in time. After you escape, Ladd realizes that Super Joe is still in the base and will go back in after him.

Ladd manages to evacuate himself and Joe just in time.

Super Joe himself then finishes the story. The whole game is a story told by an older Super Joe reminiscing about the events in the game and Ladd's heroics.
