Gromit's Nintendo Wasteland had many awesome graphics. (anyone remember the animated GIF of Mega Man shooting Simon Belmont?). It also featured Top Ten Lists, reviews, etc. It went through many months of no updates until finally it disappeared, leaving an empty directory behind.
